Marian Mayen is a clarinetist from Charleston, SC that holds an enthusiasm for collaborative music making and sharing her artistry with others. As an orchestral clarinetist, she has appeared in performances with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Lexington Philharmonic, Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra, and the Cincinnati Opera’s productions of Lucia di Lammermoor and Rigoletto. Marian has been a finalist of the William Winstead Competition at CCM and the second prize winner of the Music Club Scholarship Fund Competition. She was also awarded honorable mention in the 2024 and 2025 Vandoren Emerging Artist competitions. An active chamber musician, Marian’s wind quintet won first place in the CCM Chamber Music Competition in 2022. She has participated in the Imani Winds Chamber Music Festival, Sphinx NAAS Audition Intensive, Chautauqua Instrumental Program, and the National Repertory Orchestra. As a Guatemalan-American artist, Marian hopes to inspire the future generations of Latin American and female musicians alike with her passion and presence in the music world. Marian completed her undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Christopher Pell.
